Summary:  To prepare and portion foods, simple dishes and other items as directed by the Chef.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, portion and serve stocks, breading items, cold salads, dressings, sandwich making, vegetable and fruit prepping and fryer work according to standard recipes.
  • Handle knives and operate small kitchen equipment safely.
  • Be able to work with others well in a close environment with a learning attitude 
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Follow the kitchen chain of command; i.e. Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Sous Chef, Lead Cook, Cook
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen area by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out track etc.
  • Perform other duties as required.
 
Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
  • Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently. 
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
Education and Experience:
  • High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, preferred.
  • Food Handlers required 
  • Prior related experience preferred.
