Position Summary:  The Shooting Academy Operations Intern will support the Shooting Academy Manager in all aspects of the facility’s daily operations and administrative assistance. These duties include but are not limited to: Shooting Sports, Food and Beverage, Indoor Recreation, Property Management and other activities and initiatives to be developed. Position will ensure a culture and activities that are safe, fun, and memorable for all guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide exceptional service.
  • Welcome guests, answer questions and direct guests to the appropriate areas.
  • Initiates contact with guests with a warm welcome and the willingness to assist the guest.
  • Must be proactive in anticipating the guest's needs.
  • Understands and executes front of house presentation out of the Shooting Academy Pro Shop
  • Responsible for signing-in shooters, collecting fees, providing instruction, monitoring the shooting range(s) for safety, and answering guests question
  • Communicates as necessary with staff and equipment vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to shooting ground equipment and associated operation
  • Handle all cash and charge sales made through the Academy Pro Shop.
  • Be an extension of Shooting Academy Leadership by holding other associates accountable and setting the “Big Cedar Standard”
  • Must effectively communicate all pertinent information amongst his/her team members and supervisory staff in regards to daily operations.
  • Required to move and adjust traps as necessary for changing weather conditions, repair, and/or special event
  • Keeps back of house storage areas organized and free of clutter.
  • Ensures safe operation of range by educating guest and enforcing safety rules.
  • Report stock levels of guest, retail and office supplies to the Shooting Academy Manager.      
  • Always carries themselves in a friendly approachable manner.
  • Must be highly service focused with a desire to engage with guests. 
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness for all areas within the department.
  • Report all incidents of guest dissatisfaction to the Shooting Academy Manager.
  • Report all accidents to the Shooting Academy Manager.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment needed to operate the range including firearms, traps, batteries, shooting stands, wireless controllers/handsets, golf carts, and other gear as require
  • Alert Academy Manager of potential hazard issues and prevent accidents whenever possible.
  • Manages inventory of clay targets and related accessories insuring availability to sustain daily shooting operation.
  • Demonstrate initiative – ability to think, work, and make decisions to solve guest concerns based on sound judgment.
  • Ensure all daily POS requirements are fulfilled, and all necessary paperwork is submitted accurately and on-time
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers
    • Able to work in outside weather conditions
    • Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis
    • Have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Be able to work weekends and holidays
  • Education
    • Majoring in Hospitality Management, Business, Recreation, or related field
  • Writing
    • Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Basic Computer Skills
    •  Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.).
  • Reading Comprehension
    • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
