Assistant Landscaping Manager


Position Summary: To oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all grounds including plants, trees, lawn areas, drives, walkways, ponds, irrigation systems, snow and ice removal, trash and recycle, moving services to various departments and all equipment to provide guest safety and satisfaction.

Expected Contributions:

  • Assist the Landscaping Manager and Big Cedar Leadership to create a visual experience, particularly on our grounds, that is world class
  • Provide leadership that drives accountability while maintaining a respectful and productive work environment
  • Maintains Big Cedar service delivery at best in class and a subject of benchmarking
  • Identify inefficient processes and redesign those processes and/or recommend tools to improve the processes
  • Coach associates to practice leadership that drives Big Cedar culture and business objectives

Essential Functions:

  • Interview professionally and legally at all times
  • Directly supervise the landscaping team at Big Cedar Lodge
  • Select, train, supervise, discipline and terminate as necessary on his team
  • In partnership with the Landscaping Manager create the budget for the BCL landscaping department
  • Supervise and assist as necessary with the cutting, trimming, seeding, irrigation and chemical application of all lawn areas
  • Supervise and assist as necessary with the bed preparation, planting, weeding, irrigation and chemical application of all flower beds and planting areas
  • Supervise and assist as necessary with the cleaning of debris, removal of snow and ice, spreading of sand and ice melt and repair of all walkways, trails, drives and parking areas
  • Supervise and assist as necessary with tree maintenance including trimming, removal and irrigation
  • Supervise and assist as necessary with maintenance, repairs and winterization of irrigation systems
  • Perform maintenance of landscaping equipment and tools
  • Keep Landscaping manager informed of equipment and supply needs
  • Acquire working knowledge of the Lodge and facilities to respond appropriately to guest questions, as required
  • Assist in training of employees
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, supervising and coordination of the daily operations
  • Keep Landscaping Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters so prompt corrective action can be taken when appropriate
  • Perform other duties as required
    Candidate Profile

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 2 years’ experience in Landscaping
  • Management experience in Landscaping preferred


  • Possess a valid Missouri “E” or Arkansas “P” driver’s license
  • Clean and safe driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
