Job Description


Summary:   Responsible for leading a team to deliver the highest levels of service and hospitality and developing, implementing and monitoring controls and procedures necessary to ensure successful retail operations.  Work closely with the Director of Retail to attain top line revenues and bottom line profitability. Oversee shipping, receiving, storage, inventory, payroll and cashiering procedures as they pertain to the retail operation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Personally embody Big Cedar Mission and Values through exceptional leadership skills.

  • Responsible to hire, train, coach, mentor, schedule, discipline and terminate staff.

  • Ensures shop is clean, organized, visually pleasing, and easy for guests to shop.

  • Maintain a highly motivated, knowledgeable staff that perform with little supervision that are extremely sensitive to guest needs and are consistently on the floor seeking to assist and upsell guests.

  • Closely monitor labor and keep it in line with budget adjusting as necessary to ensure that the department is meeting payroll/sales goals.

  • Oversee inventory for accuracy and see that all goods are appropriately and securely stored.

  • Ensure all items are tagged properly, record all markups or discounts and maintain necessary records to track shrinkage.

  • Monitor and record daily sales from previous day. Compare night audit totals with Run It totals and handle any corrections through accounting.

  • Participate in routine inventories and audits.

  • Maintain records of items entering, leaving, or holding in storage.

  • Record floor sales and compare to inventories to establish sales trends and monitor shrinkage.

  • Ensure that scheduled payroll is within budget and react accordingly.

  • Investigate and follow up on all negative and positive guest service comments.

  • Work closely and harmoniously with the Director of Retail to ensure a unique, neat and profitable Boutique.

  • Share percentages and variances to revenue routinely with Director of Retail.Meet regularly to determine where overruns exist and where profits are maximized.

  • Develop forms and systems that allow us to track each product line and how much of it is left storage and to what areas.

  • Perform other related duties as required.


Supervisory Responsibilities:  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:   Two or more years of experience in leadership of an upscale clothing/accessory boutique and strong sales, communication, computer and customer service skills are required.


Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of 10 - key Accounting software; Lotus Notes Internet software; Run it Inventory software; Unitime Payroll systems; Lotus 123, Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word or Word Perfect Word Processing software.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  A safe driving record and the ability to obtain a Missouri class E or Arkansas "P" designated driver's license.


Other Qualifications:  The ability to work well with a team, to prioritize, a sense of urgency and a real concern for guest satisfaction is required.
