Position: First Tee/On Course Guide

Position Summary: To engage all guests in a friendly, professional and courteous manner, providing a world class experience for their day with us. First Tee/On Course Guides are part of our guests first impressions of Big Cedar Golf. Therefore, besides properly greeting our guests you must be detailed oriented, be an excellent communicator with customer service skills and possess strong time management skills.

 

Knowledge and Skill Set:

+   Ability to drive a golf cart

+   Ability to work unsupervised

+   Have an understanding of all Big Cedar golf courses and Big Cedar properties

+   Excellent communicator and superior customer service skills

+   Familiar with golf terminology and golf etiquette rules

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

+   Keep order, ensure prompt tee off and maintain the flow of golfers as they play the course

+   First Tee Guide make sure all golfers have starting receipts

+   First Tee Guide explains course set up for the day and necessary rules that need to be followed

+   First Tee Guide informs guests of pace of play targets and the name of the course guide for the day

+   First Tee Guide start a group exactly on their tee time and do not start a group early unless necessary

+   Inform guests of location of food on premises and names of servers who will be there to help them

+   Inform guests of availability of water and where it can be found

+   Course Guides assists all guests around the golf course safely and within the timescale required

+   Course Guides keep in touch with the first tee guide to ensure list of players/tee times are accurate

+   Course Guides:   Be CORRECT

                                Check – be certain of a groups pace of play if approaching about slow play

                                Observe-be cognizant of groups positioning and if they are suspects for slow play

                                Review-have any groups changed positions from their original order of tee times

                                React-What action if any is required. Know this before you approach guests

                                Encourage-In a positive manner explain what remedies are needed to keep pace

                                Chase-If the slow group is still not keeping proper pace what actions are needed

                                Thank-Thank them for their efforts and encourage them to make improvements

 

+   Adhere to all rules and regulations established by BCL/BPS and Big Cedar Golf

+   Report and document all incidents of guests concerns and present to Assistant Golf Professionals

+   Report and document all accidents/injuries that occur during a guest golf outing at course

+   Have a deep understanding of BCG and BCL and all amenities available to our guests

Candidate Profile:

 

  • Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to work any of the 7 days in a week, regardless of it being a weekday, weekend, or holiday.
  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers
  • Able to work in outside weather conditions
  • Guest and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing guest and personal services. This includes guest’s needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction.
  • Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis
  • Have the ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Analytical/Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examine data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generate alternative solutions to problems; evaluate strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems.
  • Number Facility - The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.
